Okay coffee lovers: this one is for you!
Have you ever heard of the coffee nap? We all have those days when we are feeling our eyes droop but that to-do list is still so long. We reach for a mug and the sound of the coffee machine working is like a heavenly chorus! When you need an energy boost, this might be the perfect strategy for you.
First of all, I am going to remind you, since I always need to give myself this same reminder: drink water. You can consume a lot of caffeine but if you aren’t drinking water, it won’t make any difference. Your brain needs water to perform at its best and most efficient.
The coffee nap is a two part process to give you a jolt of energy: drink coffee and then take a nap. It takes about 20 minutes for the caffeine to kick in. It’s got to make its way through the body to your brain and that isn’t an instantaneous process. Taking that 20 minute power nap while you wait will recharge your brain batteries (there’s a more scientific explanation HERE).
Et voila! The coffee nap: a really delicious and awesome way to turbocharge a slow day. Good hydration, rest and a little shot of caffeine is sure to help your productivity when all you have left is failing will power (thanks to that post-lunch food coma)!
