FOR LOVE OF MATISSE
This project is collection of watercolour illustrations inspired by Henri Matisse.
During the last decade of his life, Matisse could not create art in the same manner as he once did due to his declining health. He began to create by painting paper and cutting out shapes. He “painted” with scissors. These shapes were seemingly simple yet expressive, distilling the world around him to a few lines and colours. Using scissors and gouache, he created a magical world of plants, animals, figures and shapes.
With this collection, I hope to facilitate your creative process and help you channel the creative spirit of one of the world’s most renowned artists.
